For the Parents
The transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts can be difficult for
many parents. Not only is it hard for many of us to awaken to the
fact that our boys are turning into young adults and can be very
independant, but the Scouting program is all about the Scouts running
their Troop and working towards the rank of "Eagle" with
little to no help of their parents.
Now don't misunderstand that last paragraph as parents are greatly
& desperately needed within any Boy Scout Troop as "Adult
Leaders". The role that parents play is not that of "Dad
& Mom" while at a Troop Activity. The role parents take
on is "Guide & Mentor" to all Scouts within the Troop.
When at a meeting, we are "Leaders" and step up only as
needed by the Scouts.
This page is set up to help you, the parents, better understand
how the Scouting program is run. It can also be of assistance to
the Scouts as they themselves enter the program. We, the Committee
of Troop 627, hope that this page helps you to better understand
the Scouting program.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email the Scoutmaster
or Committee Chairman as we are happy to help!
